eth0 reporting down during boot

Nvidia based board with on board controller

I am having to restart the network manually after boot,

the msg log is only telling me that eth0 is down during boot
It also indicates that the forcedeth driver is loading. It
works fine after a manual restart(/etc/init.d/network restart).
Under suse 10.2 was fine this occurred after the upgrade to
11.0. Problem with this is I cannot mount my ndas drive, I believe
due to the network being down during the boot process. If there is anythng I need to post to help resolve this please let me know.
I am using the traditional network setup in Yast. Everything
works under windows so should not be a hardware problem.
Thank-you

It seems that networking in 11.1 has some real problems. I’ve seen the same problem on a Gigabyte EX58 motherboard with two on-board ethernet controllers. With the 32-bit kernel I can diddle around with the BIOS and eventually get both controllers recognized, but this doesn’t work with the 64-bit kernel. I suspect the kernel is diddling with the ACPI configuration in the BIOS and is screwing it up. I’ve seen the same thing with BSD on an old ASUS motherboard.
