Hello and welcome.

You installed from what? Or how? There are different ways you can install openSUSE 13.2. We can not guess which one you use. In any case, if a download of e.g. the DVD ISO is involved, did you check the checksum?

Yes I’m using DVD iso to install opensuse. But what is the checksum??

Yes I’m using DVD iso to install opensuse. But what is the checksum??

On the Download page https://software.opensuse.org/132/en it says a bit down: Verify your download before use. Did you do that?

I used download method as direct download, type of computer as legacy 32-bit pc and hit the download dvd button. And in the installation screen if I click on “Check Installation Media” it shows “Checksum Wrong, DVD broken”. Now how can I verify direct download I can’t understand.:frowning:

Set the buttons to your download and then click on the md5 checksum link in the paragraph I linked you to. The result is:

43869f9b9b944adc1b210649d3730980 openSUSE-13.2-DVD-i586.iso

I normaly put thistext in a file in the same directory as the ISO like this:

henk@boven:~/Documents/Linux/openSUSE-downloads/openSUSE-13.2/openSUSE-13.2-DVD-x86_64.iso> ls -l
totaal 4569204
-rw-r--r-- 1 henk wij 4678746112 10 dec 20:34 openSUSE-13.2-DVD-x86_64.iso
-rw-r--r-- 1 henk wij 63 10 dec 20:23 openSUSE-13.2-DVD-x86_64.iso.md5
henk@boven:~/Documents/Linux/openSUSE-downloads/openSUSE-13.2/openSUSE-13.2-DVD-x86_64.iso>

And then from within that directory would call:

md5sum -c openSUSE-13.2-DVD-x86_64.iso.md5

That will take some time. Of course you must adapt the names to your download (32 bit) and the name you used for the file which contains the checksum (you can name it what you want).

When you burn it with k3b, the checksum will also be calculated and shown.

Hi,

I am also having problems to instal openSUSE 13.2 and hope someone could help me to fix things.

I just bought a new computer with one hard drive for Windows 7 and another for openSUSE.

I installed Win 7 without problem. I also installed the usual applications, like Firefox, Skype, etc.

When I started the computer with the 13.2 install DVD (MD5 and SHA 1 verified OK) and chose the menu option “Install”, the system started the process and a lot of lines where printed on the screen, but after 2-4 minutes everything froze after printing the lines:
>>> openSUSE instalation program v5.0.26 (c) 1996-2014 SUSE Linux Products GmbH <<<
Starting udev…

The same hapens when I chose the menu option “Verify Media”.

Thanks for the help!

Please belzonte,

Do not hang your problems at the end a thread from some other person, except when you have exactly the same problem and can add something to the discussion in the thread.

Start a new thread with a telling title. Then you chances that you get a good answer from the volunteers here (which will more probably look at new threads started then at old threads they are not subscribed to) will increase.
