I would love to solve this niggle as hate Kernel output at boot.

Hi
Is this in a virtual machine or bare-metal? If you disable plymouth on boot (grub option), does the error go away?

Disabling Plymouth the way forward. All text is consistent. All graphical is not possible. A mixture of both is jarring.

Hi!

So uninstalling Plymouth makes my X250 reboot, result! I was previously using the no show Plymouth kernel parameter. Other than:

sudo zypper al plymouth plymouth-dracut

What is the best way of permanently keeping it off the system?

Please be aware that, the systemd VConsole setup service is by default called by the systemd “Plymouth start” service …

  • The systemd kbdsettings service (Apply settings from /etc/sysconfig/keyboard) is “PartOf=” the VConsole setup service …
  • And, during boot, the systemd udevd service (the one which listens to kernel uevents) also calls the VConsole setup service during vtconsole subsystem initialisation …

Hi
I remove all the ply packages and lock, then rebuild initrd with the mkinitrd command.

My X250 slow to fresh boot & will not reboot with Plymouth installed. Do I Bugzilla against Plymouth package?

Re. the failing vconsole. Search the forums, there’s an instruction on how to use a patch to solve that.
