Hi,
Recently I switched over from Ubuntu to open suse 11. Everything is
setup perfectly except for the fact that any command i run with root
privileges, I get this error:
(GEDIT:9295): GTK-WARNING **: CANNOT OPEN DISPLAY:
Can anyone please tell me the solution for this? A quick search in
google did not help me much.

You should use this variant in openSUSE: gnomesu gedit
And a big thanks from me, am an Ubuntu user but have just installed SUSE
for a try and have been trolling the 'net all day looking for an answer
to this. Solved.

It’s a tricky one. Imagine how frustrated I felt in Ubuntu typing
gnomesu gedit and nothing happened. lol! At least Ubuntui said the
package wasn’t installed which gave me a clue about sudo after a few
minutes.
And for the Kubuntu expats, “kdesu kwrite” is a big tip.
