I just did a clean install of suse, after having partitioned my root for btrfs. It was booting perfectly, but my windows boot got messed up in the process. So I fixed the windows boot and lost grub2 in the process. I then had to do a rescue disk. All I did was mount the boot partition, cd to it, and do a dd if=/backup_mbr of=/dev/sda. This got grub2 back, but now when it loads suse it tells me grub2 error no symbol table, but after hitting enter it boots like normal. Should I be worried about this?
Are you sure it comes from grub2? Please post exact message and pint in time when you see it.
Not sure what happened but it seems to have sorted itself out.
