Error in package manager

Hello,

I have recently install openSUSE 11.1
when I try to install the updates I cannot.
I get the following message :

Package manger error.
uvcvideo-kmp-default-r260_2.6.27.7_9.1-1.2.i586 requires kernel(default:mm) = d2046c7a7e90ef6a, but this requirement cannot be provided

Any ideas as to how to solve this problem?

Best,

Only-trouble

Have you run online update configuration in YaST ? check your repositories as well, make sure you have OSS,update & non-oss,& packman for multimedia

Andy

Thank you Andy,

This is what I did YAST-> Software->Software reporitories
I havd oss, non-oss, packman and main update repositry.
no special packman for update… Do I need to add?( How?)

How do I do this online update though YAST you mentioned?

Best.

Hey Only-Trouble,

I was searching through Google to see if the problem you’re having is a common one, and I came across a post on the forums about the same issue you are experiencing: click here. I personally have not had the same issue, but it seems like a few others have, so I figured that the thread I linked might be of some assistance. I hope that helps you find an answer to the problem you’ve been having. As for the other questions you had on how to add a repository and how to perform an online update, try the following: (the first is for adding a new repository and the second is for online updates with YaST)

Adding a new repository

  1. Open YaST

  2. Enter your root password

  3. Click Software Repositories
    under the Software heading

  4. Click the Add
    button

  5. Select Specify URL…

  6. Click the Next
    button

  7. Enter the name and the URL of the new repository

  8. Click the Next
    button

  9. Click the OK
    button

  10. Agree to downloading any keys required for the repository

YaST Online Update

  1. Open YaST
  2. Enter your root password
  3. Click Online Update
    under the Software heading
  4. Select the packages you want to install
  5. Click the OK
    button

If you want to configure automatic online updates, simply do the following:

  1. Open YaST
  2. Enter your root password
  3. Click Online Update Configuration
    under the Software heading
  4. Check the Automatic Online Update
    box
  5. Set a desired interval in the dropdown box (how often to check for online updates
  6. Click the Finish
    button

I hope that helps you with your issue!
