this is a simply amazing symptom you report!! never heard this before!!
tell us more about what you have there:
did you self test the install media by selecting “Check Installation
Media” like seen here http://tinyurl.com/3qde66h, if you did not do
this, do it now to make sure you have not installed from a corrupt image
(such could easily be the source of this very strange problem)
i see 12.2, but have you run in all patches and updates by using YaST
Online Update or zypper?
is this firefox the one which came installed by default into openSUSE
(or have you updated it somehow, how?)
did firefox work as expected for a while and then suddenly start
causing the reboot?
when the reboot occurs, what traces are left in /var/log/messages??
ps: as far as the ‘file not found’ flashing during grub loading, it is a
known problem (http://tinyurl.com/bmgn678) with no
consequence other than cosmetic…forget it, do NOT try to fix it–or,
did you already try to fix it and it was then that this firefox thing began?
No I haven’t check the install media yet. I will do it now.
In my network setting there this connection called: RNDIS/CDC ETHER, it was configure as DHCP, I deleted it, the system reboots and now network service is running. I haven’t see the system reboots yet.
I have not run yast online update:
this would be under Yast>software> online update correct?
In check installation media:
It came up a blue screen,
>>>Linuxrc v4.0.7(Kernal 3.4.6-2.10default)<<<
then a message:
‘insert installation cd-rom or dvd’ I have a USB install.
well after I click ok, everything load 100% then came the main menu:
start installation
setting
expert mode
exit or reboot.

as i have never done a USB stick install, someone else has to answer
your question…however, i would NOT have expected to see a screen like
the one you described:
start installation
setting
expert mode
exit or reboot.
instead, with a valid install iso properly ‘burned’ to an install media
i would expect to see a screen that looks more like the screen shot for
slide 1 here:
so, i now wonder where you got your install iso, and if you checked the
md5sum (like discussed here: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Download_help#Checksums) before you used
the iso to make your install usb stick??

It could be the CD used as live after modified.

Yes screen looks same as this.
after I select ‘check installation media’ a message says ‘insert installation cd-rom or dvd’
I click ok, ‘no cd-rom or dvd found’ click ok again.
loaded a few things… ie:
(somthing) … 100%
(somthing)… 100%
(something) … 100%
then came a blue menu:
start installation
setting
expert mode
exit or reboot
i reboot, didnt want to install over again. the blue screen only came after i selected ‘check installation media.’
if someone can confirm this that be great.
yes checksums are great.
anyways problem seem to disappear when I reconfigured the network.
thanks

And I think it would be useless if it was the live CD and used as such,
because it modifies itself.
No, you would have to check the downloaded ISO in the hard disk where it
was before copying it to the USB stick.

HA! the check installation routine apparently doesn’t work with a usb
stick!!
that is great!!
happy to hear your grub problem got ‘fixed’ when you reconfigured your
network… ???
i mean why this error is throwed out? is it a bug in grub2 rpm packages or related to others? and why i can boot the system even the error is throwed out but the thread starter can not? and my final question is :
how can i fix this error?
