Something went amiss with the grub bootloader. You need to repair it. But am I mistaken - But was it 10.3 that had broken features in repair?
So you could boot from a live CD and edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst
You may even find a menu.lst_old in there (could help) But use the following code to get partition info:
fdisk -l

Thanks for your help. Live cd solved prob.
