I’ve tried to install my epson xp-205 printer with scanner on my opensuse 13.2 x64 through yast, but it gives me an error saying that there is a conflict between my system architecture and the driver (x64_x86). So I went to epson’s website to download the driver (just like I did with ubuntu, and installed with gdebi perfectly) just to get some neat errors. The first one was with Apper which after trying to install the .rpm file says “aborted by user” (Opensuse has been doing this for a while now, specially with programs from google - chrome, play music.rpm, etc). So I try to install through konsole, only to find another error I can’t solve (While with google products, I can add the repo and the key manually, I have no idea what to do in this case for my printer):
Konsole output
~/Transferências> sudo zypper install epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.5.1-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm

I would gladly thank any help here, so I can put my printer to work - and it would be nice as well, if someone could explain why apper used to work flawlessly and now gives errors with any package outside the default repos…
Doesn’t work. still get the same error, saying that the packages conflict with the architecture. It’s a bit weird since I don’t get this at all on ubuntu x64. The only difference is the .deb or .rpm package, all the rest is the same, both are packages for 64 bit systems
The .deb amd64 package works perfectly on ubuntu 14.04 x64bits, but the 64bit version of the rpg package gives me the error above. This is kinda of a nuisance, since Opensuse is by far my favorite distro and I only have ubuntu to work with my scanner / printer.
I have printer Epson L300 working without a problem on openSUSE 13.2 64bit.
I have installed rpm package epson-inkjet-printer-201207w-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm from Epson web page.
I did a clean install of opensuse, got dolphin open and opened the konsole to install every package from the epson website. It all went well, except for one that I had to choose to break the dependencies. But at least, my epson printer is working and so is the scanner. It solved everything - but the issue with apper still remains, any package outisde the repos stops the install saying it was aborted by user (dropbox from opensuse one click install works perfectly, but the rpm package from dropbox doesn’t. The same goes for google Chrome, google music manager etc).
