Hello All,
I’m running on OpenSuse Linux v10.x (online updated “to the max”) and i have a Epson Stylus Photo R360 connected to my computer via an USB connector.
I have some question about Suse and my printer:
Does anyone have this Epson Stylus Photo R360 printer working?
What kind of system can i use to connect to this printer (LPR, CUPS)
My printer was not recognized by the suse installation programm
Is it possible to use “just another epson ppd file” (like R300, r340)?
Is it possible to create my own PPD file and what do i need for that?

Ronald;
Take a look at this link, it may help: http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-Stylus_Photo_R360
Good Luck
the openprinting page is a little confusing, or even unfair, I think; so it “condemns” your printer as a “paperweight”;
but it reflects the fact that the linux community is largely contributing volunteers; so if you can get your printer working, you can yourself edit this page, and contribute to it;
so: options:
go to this website:ZEDOnet | Supported Printers | TurboPrint 2 - Printer Drivers for Linux - Supported Printers and download the programme they sell; it will install quickly and well; you can monitor inklevels; alter colour balance etc etc; it will cost you the equivalent of maybe two linux magazines at a newsagent; we use it for two canon printers, it installs painlessly, and continues to work well; they started on the Amiga computer in the 1980s; getting printers working is important to folks;
and download what they offer: I have not used Epson, and the comment that has been made is that the Epson drivers may be slow, and not allow very detailed printing;
despite calling the printer a “paperweight”, … I think … that the openprinting site for the R360 says the gutenprint will work: you need to be sure if your opensuse is 32 or 64 bit; if you wish to try gutenprint, you will need the LSB 3.1rpm version of your choice;
you ask about connecting: CUPS seems the default now;
