Hello there!
Since a while,the energy-saver shuts down the screen after 10 minutes,some time
ago,it happens after half an hour, but I didn´t set it up in that orders !It makes me
nervous, short time away from the comp, and soon the screen is dark!
And the screensaver will not appear any more, too.I tried to enlarge the times in the energy-manager,created a new profile, switched off the laptopmode-service,
nothing helps! And it seems,if there is no possibility to set one of the profiles up,
they can only be changed, deleted or newly created.
Is there really no place to force it to the required settings?
Under the good old KDE3.5,it was no problem,to get it work like I want it to.
My 64-bit system runs under openSUSE 11.3 and KDE 4.4.
Is here any salvation for my nerves?
Greetings !

So, you have a couple places to check for this. First is at: menu / Personnel Settings / Advanced Tab / Power Management / General Settings, Determine the profile that you are using. Further, the option: Let PowerDevil manage screen powersaving [x], should be selected. Then select Edit Profiles, select the profile that you are using AND make sure ** ] Enable display power management** is NOT selected.
Next, go to: menu / Personnel Settings / General Tab / Desktop and check to determine if you have selected a screen saver at all. If you do select one, test it to make sure it does not just give you a blank screen.
That is all, report back as to what you have found.
Thank You,
Hello jdmcdaniel3 !
Enabled the PowerDevil again, and it works(the screensaver too)!
I disabled it,because I didn´t find any other setting to change anything.After
changing different settings,and back again,you don`t know anymore,which
setting to test!
But there are two further things : Do you know, where the profiles are located in
the file-system? I would like to use a tiny nuclear powerstation-icon for my
“Gratispower”-profile.
And can I leave the system-service “Laptop-Mode” in the hardware-section
disabled ?
Thanks for ending my confusion !

It would seem a lot of people get tripped up by disabling the PowerDevil, which appears to let lose the kernel screen blanker for some reason. I don’t have an answer on your other two questions, but I will do some research tonight on the subject.
Thank You,
