Emergency boot mode

My son turned on my desktop and while he was waiting he was constantly pressing ENTER. Now it only boots into Emergency mode. I have used the command journalctl -xd and reviewed the system log and there was nothing in the system log that stands out to me that explains the boot problem. What can I try next to boot the desktop into default mode?

Bryan

After a closer look at the journal I found the following errors:

systemd-fsck[671]: fsck failed with error code 4.

systemd[1]: Failed to start File System Check on /dev/sdc1 (this is a mounted drive that I have setup in fstab to auto mount)

systemd[1]: Dependency failed for /mnt/Pictures. (this is a mount point I created for my Samba on my network)

systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Local File Systems.

systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Swap.

The desktop was working fine earlier yesterday but I have no idea what my son may have done to cause the system to only boot into Emergency mode.

fsck fail indicates a corrupted file system.

Thank you, after researching last night after I posted on the forum that is what I found out. Today I reinstalled the OS and as of an hour ago it was updating and running well. I currently have my additional drives disconnected. Installation with the additional drives presented problems. I will attach the drives and mount them this afternoon.
