emerald not working in SuSE 11.1

Hallo All,

I faced a problem with emerald. I succeeded to install compiz. It is working with the KDE window-decorator. When I try to load emerald as the window decorator, all window frames are gone. I tried out different repositories for compiz-fusion like mentioned in some further postings, but non of them are working probably.

Has somebody an idea what is the problem?

the same here :frowning:

there’s not even an error message :frowning:

Emerald is not working well under KDE4. Press Alt+F2 and type “emerald --replace” without quotes.

Ditto, and bump!

freedguy: I tried that. Compiz seems to crash after I try that though.

I have it disabled until some updates come in.

Worked fine in 11.0.

Did you try emerald from the opensuse repositories (thus the packages from the installation disc) ? Those work for me. The ones in XGL repo do not work for me neither.

Same problem here, I successfully reinstall compiz, but emerald not. I don’t have the title screen bar, even the buttons.
I’m using KDE 3.5.10 release 21.11

This 11.1 upgrade killed my weekend.

same problem here - i tried linking the “emerald” directory from /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib, to no avail …

I was having this problem and tried every fix going, in the end I followed this fix …and it works for me works! just use the 1click install and set the compiz fusion icon to window manager =compiz ,window decorator to Emerald. Maybe log out might be a good idea.

CyberOrg » compiz-fusion

Hallo bigbossa,
yes, this link is working! Now I have back all emerals settings. But one question: Nobody nows really, which copiz or emerald repository is working correctly. X11:XGL? CyberOrg? Suse.org? I am a little bit confused. For the moment CyberOrg is working, i will work with that. Thanks again.

Hello,
I believe that this may be due to the “Nomad” patches that were rolled into the current release. I don’t think Nomad plays nice with Emerald.
