Embedded image viewing problems in Konqueror

Hi All,

I use OpenSUSE 11.3+KDE and I set Konqueror as my file manager, since I got used to it for some years.
My problem is that I cannot use the embedded image viewing feature of Konqueror as I could previously (KDE 3.5). Now i left click on an image and ok, it appears properly, but then I move to the next image. First I have to navigate back and then click onto the next image, which is quite inconvenient. . . do you know where to set this?

I’d be interested in a solution as well, for it is indeed very inconvenient. There used to be buttons for moving to the next image and back, but they seem to be gone. This is weird, since buttons for zooming images are still there.

Same here
Bugs the heck out of me

Sounds like a candidate for the kde wish list

I was just thinking the very same. It shouldn’t be too hard to add this.

Since my English is full of flaws and annoying imperfections, do you want to submit such a request?

Thanx, caf4926.

Thank you to all! I’m looking forward to the result.

A.

If you right click on the image and select Gwenview, you can see all the images in the folder and navigate through them; perhaps the developers decided to leave Gwenview to supply the functionality that used to be in Konqueror 3.5.

Perhaps, but it makes sense to restore a useful feature in the file manager and negate the requirement to use another tool unnecessarily.

Noticed this too, had the same thought @john_hudson had, but @deano_ferrari’s right, it makes sense.

What “embed” the image, pdf, txt or other viewable files is a kpart plugin, selectable in file associations setup (either from system settings or konqueror’s config menus).

Perhaps the problem with kde4 is the selected plugin. In kde3 there were at least two for pdf files, three for images, etc.
Usually the plugin becomes available when the main kde app is installed. For instance, installing kate will bring in katepart, which can be selected at the “embed” tab for txt files.

If you take a look at the embed parts for jpg, you’ll see three options: gvpart (gwenview), kthmlimage and okular. Usually the part has a similar interface to the corresponding app. You can experiment with the others for the functionality you want.

@ brunomcl
The problem is not that we can’t view in embedded mode, we can.
But we can’t move through images in embedded mode.

That was clear. What I suggested is to try another kpart, as they have different capabilities, one of the others may have the forward/back buttons you require.

So, did you already tried all three, and none worked as you’d like?

For example, in kde3.5 one of the pdf parts didn’t have an option/button to rotate the page, the other did.

I hope my meaning is clear now. Good luck.
