Elantech touchpad not working on boot again

For reasons unknown to me my touchpad has stopped working again.
If I reinstall “xf86-input-synaptics” it all works as normal, but this is getting annoying.

Touchpad on is ticked in Synaptics and Fn+F10 is not toggling the touchpad on and off like normal (unless I reinstall xf86-input-synaptics)
This has happened once before. If I install x11-input-mtrackwas the touchpad starts working, but its way too sensitive and feels like a workaround not a fix. It would be nice to have it working as before.
The touchpad is not working in any other desktop either. But I last time this happened it was working when I created another user. I haven’t had time to try this today.
Any ideas?
Thanks
My system is
Opensuse 12.3
KDE 4.1.3 r1

Hi asarge,

I use “xf86-input-synaptics” as well and I’m very happy. Try to install “synaptiks” (yes, with k) as well to get a control-module for KDE. You can then change the sensitivity of your trackpad under “KDE-Settings” -> “Input” -> “Touchpad”.

Alternatively there’s the package “gsynaptics” for Gnome.

Hope this helps
Simon
