EEEpc rt2860sta v2.3 WEP messing...

Hi,

For a long time, on my netbook Asus EEE pc1000 working fine with my wireless (connecting WEP, WPA). Running with kernel 2.6.29 + rta2860sta v2.2 (package downloaded from the software repository , a user repository)

After somes updates (kernel mainly), all stop working. So I recompile the module v2.2 but don’t work.
I download from the ralink site the last version , recompile and installed , and appear work fine, but I don’t know why the opensuse like to be very annoying and the knetworkmanager don’t recognize the device.
So , again I download a package from a user repository with the version 2.3 , what appear starts working again. Knetworkmanager recognize the device, but isn’t cappable to connect in a WEP network. With WPA works fine.

If I disable the device in knetworkmanager and try configure manually , sometimes work. Probably have some sequence of command what I don’t figure out what is…

To configure WEP network before this problems I always use only the “iwconfig” command.
But I try with “iwconfig” and “iwpriv” and don’t work.
So , afiter trying a lot of sequence, now I got connected to WEP network, but is very weird how they show this connection,

The messing what I refer on the subject , is picture out bellow:
Compare the iwconfig output with the iwpriv output (encryptype, key)
Observation, all this outputs are after finally connected to WEP network…

When you have an out-of-kernel driver, and the kernel changes, it is
absolutely necessary that you MUST rebuild that driver. This is a kernel
requirelent, not one imposed by openSUSE. Any distro behaves the same.

Do you have the key right, or are you using a passphrase for WEP?

Manual configuration is harder.

Your iwconfig output merely shows that you are not connected to the AP,
probably because your authentication is wrong.

Hi lwfinger,

Thank you for your answer, but everything you say is what I do…
I believed my message isn’t clearly enough , but all this command output is with the wireless connected on WEP network and working successfully… and this is the output of the commands. very weird output…
