Editor to make websites.

Hey guys, I thought I would get your advice as there is sooo much out there.

I use SUSE cause Im awesome. and I want to start building websites for fun, learn some coding and such. What is a good program? I want to avoid a WYSIWYG cause I want to actually learn the programming. However, Being able to see and maybe move things around could come in handy. Anyway, what do you guys think would be a good starting point that’s linux powered (no wine! real linux powah!)

thanks

Any text editor with syntax highlighting would do. Though I have recently started to use Geany. It seems to be quite awesome for all types of general purpose programming, including html.

zypper in geany geany-plugins

If you install the package geany-plugins as well, this plugin seems to be included! Plugins for Geany

I also used to use a program called bluefish and it is in a community repository: software.opensuse.org:

Maybe bluefish is worth look at.

software.opensuse.org:

I use Aptana, but it has a learning curve.

I haven’t looked at Geany, Bluefish reminds me a bit of Aptana.

If you really want to learn the code use a text editor with syntax highlighting to start, then move on to one of the other apps once you are comfortable.

I also find Bluefish very satisfactory for HTML; I use Kate for the associated CSS files.

I also use Bluefish and also Komodo Edit for HTML/XHTML, both are very
capable editors.
