Editing Xfce menu to remove Favorites and Recently Used

Is it possible to edit the Xfce menu to remove Favorites and Recently Used, neither of which I use?

You can remove the ‘favorites’ selection by:

right click on the menu button
select ‘Properties’
select the ‘Behavior’ tab
uncheck the ‘Include favorites’

I’m don’t know how to remove the ‘Recently used’ item.

I haven’t checked recently, but LXDE and XFCE used to share the same architecture for the menu launching applications (approx openSUSE 13.2).
If things haven’t changed, then the Wiki article I wrote describing how to add a menu item describes file locations for you to find what exists and you may be able to remove instead of following the steps I describe to add…

I should have mentioned that I’m using GeckoLinux Xfce, as I had trouble building openSUSE Xfce via the network method. I would not have thought it would make a difference, but apparently it does. I will build openSUSE Xfce as soon as I have access to a network with Ethernet access, which will happen early next week.

Thanks for the replies.

I right-clicked on the menu and looked at the Behavior tab. There is no Include Favorites checkbox, but there is an Ignore Favorites checkbox under Recently Used. However, selecting it does nothing. But there is an Amount Of Items selector, and when I decreased it to zero, the Recently Used menu entry disappeared. One out of two isn’t bad.

As for /usr/share/applications, that directory appears to mainly contain icons.

openSUSE is using xfce-whiskermenu plugin; it does not offer any setting to disable favorites. The question is actually quite old, 5 years at least. I would suggest opening bug report on XFCE bug tracker.

It controls whether favorite items are included in recent list, not whether favorite button/list are shown.
