ecomorph not working

Hi, any Enlightment users here?

Since compiz no longer works with KDE, I thought I’d give Enlightenment a try. I’m rather impressed, except that ecomorph doesn’t work. I can configure it, bind keys to the effects, then press those keys and…nada. I have an HP dv7 4060us which has an ATI 5650 GPU, with OpenSUSE 11.4 using the opensource Radeon driver, also have KDE 4.7 installed and desktop effects work fine. I’m starting from the “E17 - Ecomorph” session in KDM. Any ideas? Besides uninstalling Enlightenment, which is where I’m headed otherwise.

Thanks,

GEF

Checked settings for Composite…found software rendering instead of openGL, so I suspect my wonderful GPU is not detected properly, but the point is moot now, because I went ahead and set it to openGL instead. Now I have innavigable garbage on the screen when I login, so I uninstalled. I may try again in vbox for grins, but that seems to miss the point of a touted lightweight environment. -GEF

I lied. Wasn’t sleepy so gave it another try; blew out settings and reinstalled. Found a website for a different distro that says disable Composite module before you enable Ecomorph. Cube won’t rotate but other things work. -GEF

I seem to have a bigger problem: Tap to click doesn’t work, and I can’t find any place to enable it in settings. Is there a way?

Enlightenment is pretty but ecomorph effects are hit or miss. Beside the cube not working, I can’t change animations. Oh, the window animations work, but if I select a different one, the change does not take effect. -GEF

gsynaptics got the touchpad working. I still wish I knew why cube doesn’t work and animations can’t be changed. Does anyone use ecomorph or is it just a linux tourism destination? -GEF
