deano_ferrai, just to confirm, … you have dedicated intel graphic hardware, and you can confirm that with no other entries in xorg.conf nor 50-device.conf, that when specifying i915.modeset=0 that the i915 is still loaded and not the FBDEV ?
My guess/speculation and hope here was that by specifying i915.modeset=0, that X would fall back to the next reasonable driver, which hopefully would be the radeon or radeonhd.
But I definitely defer to your experience with the i915 as I don’t have that hardware to play.
I have tested Kunbuntu 11.4 and all is recognize correcly but with Intel graphic gard and i915 driver .
I have installed fglrx driver, it’s find and linked to ATI card but not loaded.
I have tested vgaswitcheroo and but when i start X, all freeze .
When i test with acpi_call module, the last option work, but nothing happens, it remains on the Intel card .
I have tested uninstall intel drivers and unload radeon, X crash .
