Easiest way to upgrade to 11.1 from 11.0

Hi,

Someone told me all you have to do is go into yast and change the respositories from 11.0 to 11.1 where ever you find them. Then after that, exit out and at a command prompt go:

zypper up (then)

zypper dup

This really seems to work but when I restart there is no GUI, or I should say I just get a command line login prompt and if I login and go startx I get errors. So can someone point me to a link not as deadly as what I am doing

Your help and advice is appreciated,
Tom

The zypper dup upgrade is not really as simple as that. It can work. But it is not really for the faint hearted.

You say: ‘I get errors’ at startx? But do not explain.

It would have been necessary for you to replace all repo’s of 11.0 with 11.1 versions, for example nVidia or ATI repo, kde3, gnome, Packman…whatever

Perhaps you can make a note of any errors and post them?..

Thanks! well the fix was to go to the NVIDIA - openSUSE (Something like that) and go to the One-CLick button and since I don’t have video to download the ?.yim? file and read it and add the Nvidia repository manually with yast and then follow the packages to add, add them reboot and it works…

Thanks again for your help!
Tom
