Early birds

Question for all you folks that are here before the official announcement and launch on Monday. How did you find out we’re open for business? Don’t get me wrong, I was expecting folks to drop in and I’m glad you’re here, but I’m just the curious type.

Joe “Zonker” Brockmeier posted on Planetsuse.org some time ago with the url for the new forums, - I’ve had it in my favourites for a while now. When I saw suseforums.net had gone read-only, I thought I’d take a peek.

And voila

I found a link on the SLS forum about this place so thought to go pay it a visit

I had my browser here since Friday. I just refreshed today and saw that the forum was live.

When SLS was set to read-only, I just dropped-by every now and then

Abstinence crisis. Had to check what’s up with the new forums.

Beineri told me

Suseforums.net went to read-only and they had a link to the new forum.

Curiosity got the best of me, and checked today to see some new posts.

I didn’t want to post anything outside of the Comment/Suggestion area prematurely.

Read the announcement posted to the allready existing groups on the Novell
newsserver. Got the list of new groups as soon as they became available.

Nothing to do after the old forums wass closed (well, not realy :stuck_out_tongue: ). So checked regularly.

Had already some nice conversation.

Great work by those who did the switch

Found a posting saying “notice: forum closed” (in capitals, mind you)
in every single one of the Suse^WNovell newsgroups I was frequenting,
so what else could I do? I went to the subscription dialog to find
out what other newsgroups might have appeared there to replace them.

I have to say I find that procedure a bit disruptive. But perhaps at
49 I’m too old for that business now. :frowning:

I was checking twice a day for a week, then it came

I’m sorry, :frowning:
I only told my Neighbor and he swore he would not tell anyone else. Now the whole Planet knows. It getting so that a Secret is no good if you tell anyone?!?

I heard it from MattB’s neighbour, so I thought I’d pop by and take a look.

I knew it was to start tomorrow and figured “what the hey?”.

This is the first time I checked. Saw the link at the “old” site. It didn’t take much effort to go “click” and here I am!

I got a letter from the post man
Just the other day
It was early in the morning
So I came out to play

Post man? Who’s that…???
