I want to know how can i set/have a dynamic wallpaper (with smooth transitions) on KDE like the ones bundled with Mandriva 2008?
Using OpenSuse 11.0 x64_86 - KDE 4.2 Beta 2 / 3.5.9
(I thought about using 4 wallpapers with a timer of 6hours, but there won’t be smooth transitions, and also background won’t change at 100% depending the time of the day).
According to the programmer of the time-aware dynamic wallpaper, it works only in GNOME. The programmer told me that he’s not aware of any KDE equivalent.
I’m not going to give up KDE for anything. Assuming that it hasn’t yet been done, we have here a nice job for a programmer.
Thank you for your interest on the subject.
I’ve heard that some people from Kde’s upstream team are working on a dynamic wallpaper plugin/plasmoid. For now, it seems that it’ll be bind with the weather plasmoid, but I think it will be a great point to start from. Release date for KDE4.3 launch.
There is a weather option for the wallpaper in KDE 4.3. I can’t try it out yet as it doesn’t have a US provider. Only NOAA’s National Weather Service, Environment Canada, and BBC weather from UK MET Office.
