I have 2 DVICO Dual Digital 4 (rev 2) cards in my mythtv box.
I recently installed openSUSE 12.2 and they were not auto detected. I could manually add them by selecting from the list. Any ideas why they wouldn’t be auto detected?

So driver support comes in the Linux Kernel. However, the driver module may not be available by default. You can compile your own kernel and enable the right kernel module, but I don’t know what it is called and your DVICO name did not come up with it. Sometimes you can go into YaST / Hardware / TV and get an error on being unable to load a certain kernel module at which time you would know what needs to be enabled in the kernel to work. Normally, distros designated to work with TV cards might have them all setup to load automatically, but most kernel configs have them un-configured, which speeds up the kernel startup process. For kernel compiles, once you know what to look for, can be done with this:

Thank You,
Ok, that makes sense.
They work ok after selecting them manually from the list. In the past I have had to put the bluebird firmware into a directory to get them to work.
