DVI Montor Not Detected on Integrated Intel Graphics

I have an old desktop that has a DVI and a VGA output. Only the VGA output works. I am trying to get two monitors working but can’t. It’s an Intel Integrated Graphics card. There is no HDMI output, so I am not sure why xrandr lists it.

See relevant YAST Hardware output in the pastebin.

Hi and welcome to the Forum
Question is, is the DVI connector DVI-D or DVD-I (they report has HDMI, it’s normal), this is a HP desktop system, what is the model number?

Any additional information from;

xrandr --listmonitors
xrandr --listproviders

Thanks for the welcome!

It’s a HP ProDesk 400 G1 with i3 processor

Connector is DVI-I

Hi
It may be the cable your using, it has to be a DVI-I one, not a DVI-D? On my setup I purchased a DVI-I to HDMI adapter for this output to work adding a third monitor…

I just replaced it with DVI-D. Did not fix it.

Hi
It needs to be DVI-I they aare different, one thought, check the BIOS settings in case it’s disabled or needs configuring…

Solved!

I tried DVI with a different monitor and it worked.

How the obvious solutions escape me…

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an Intel IGP with a DVI connector have software report it as anything but HDMI.

Its only connectors are VGA and DVI. I generally use a DVI to HDMI adapter with it. Why I don’t remember any more.

I have two Intel IGP motherboards with 4 video connectors each, 1 each DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI & VGA, while xrandr reports 3 HDMI and 2 DisplayPort connectors and none other except “virtual”.
