DVD::Rip - DVD/video backup

Hi,
I am having trouble backing up my DVD’s. I am using DVD::Rip, which seems to be working well with only one problem. It is creating two or more .vob files (MPEG video (video/mpeg)during the process. One file may for example contain 25min of a 45min clip, then the second will contain the balance.
I really only want to create one file so it is easily played in my new Western Digital HD TV player…its great! The idea is to save my dvd collection from being destroyed by my 5&3 year old kids.
What do I need to do
Can you help?

(Gnome opensuse 11.1)

Try k9copy or DVD95 both in Packman

I have installed k9copy from Pacman on a opensuse-box (11.1+kde4) that run as a server (nfsd) on my home network.
I have tried different ways of backing up my video-dvd (avi, mpeg), but I ended up just doing a backup to a folder without change of encoding.
I also have a WD HD-player connected to my flatscreen TV with hdmi cable. The WDTV is flashed with ext3-boot sw and a USB network adaptor, and the WDTV can access the server as a nfs-client.
So fare I can recommend the k9copy for backups of dvds and I only used the wizard so fare.

Thanks, I have installed dvd9 & k9copy. Both seem to work well, however very slow. I am thinking I will backup as you do without a change of encoding. Can I ask, do you create a 4.4gig file when you dvd backup or do you make it smaller? If you make it smaller is it any good?

Something strange in what you report, because personally I find k9copy extremely quick for a GUI app.
