DVD drive will not read burned dual layer discs

Has any seen this or have suggestions on how to fix this. I can read the original disks but I cannot read the backup. The backup disc was burned on Window$ using Nero.

I am trying to read the disc using both VLC and Totem but you can see in /var/log/messages there is an issue with reading the disc. This disc is readable in the Window$ box and on all DVD stand alone players.

here is the output of /etc/fstab, I have also tried commenting out the cd mount point as in the default config.

fstab is NOT used for CD/DVD’s
why are you fiddling in there
Do you have a copy of your original fstab?

I do not have this issue you describe

caf4926, I do still have a backup of fstab and I added the lines to assists with trouble shooting. While Googling for help, some of fixes people have seen was to add the mount points in fstab.

I’m wondering if you could read a backup made in Linux.
It seems to me that if you can read the originals but not the backups made in winders, then there must be something in they way it was done.

I would put your fstab back to original, unless you are mounting actual HD’s.

Yeah, I am wondering the same thing? I have read that udf maybe causing issues between the two OS’s and that Nero Linux may be able to resolve this? I will give it a try. If it does not work I will see if I can find a newer slim DVD drive. I will post my findings.

thanks

P.S. I put /etc/fstab back to the original config.
