I want to make backups of some of my dvds. K3b saya I cant because the dvds are encrypted! Is there anyway to make a backup in linux or do I have to boot into windows and use anydvd?
You either don’t have the codecs installed or the DVD you are trying to “backup” is over 4.3 GB and you would need to shrink it down to fit on a disk. If you search for restricted codecs you will find what you need. Also check out K9Copy to resize a DVD you want to “backup”.
I coudnt get it to work so I used anydvd with nero and its working. I cant believe companys can encrypt the discs so I cant even make backups of them. wtf
Anyone have any other sugestions as to what I could do so next time I dont have to use windows? Im pretty sure I have codecs installed.
k9copy
dvd95
Yea I guess I could use thoses. The whole point was to not have to install another app just to make a 1 to 1 copy of my dvds when I already had a cd/dvd app installed.
I did some additional reading online and it does seems that k3b can copy encrypted dvds if you have libdvdcss installed. Ill do some more research. Must be some k3b secret.

Yea thats one of the first things I do when installing opensuse. Ill have to check what repo I got the libdvdcss from. also I forgot to mention im using kde4 version of k3b. Maybe that has something to do with it.
I am new to OpenSUSE and I could not find k9copy in the repositories. How can I get it? I know, I know, it’s a dumb question.
k9copy is from pacman repo
go to software repositories and add - select community radio button - next - choose packman from the list…
