dv9000 battery problem with opensuse 11.2

Hi everybody,

I have a strange problem with my dv 9000 notebook. My original battery was lost while i was moving out and i was trying to install new opensuse 11.2 without it. After loading linux kernel dialog, system was trying to initiate installation program and, after a while, notebook was shut down without any reason. I bought some spare baterry and system was installed successfully. I have run it one or two times and it was without problems. But now system shuts down the notebook in the same time it was prevoiusly, with battery or without it equiped. I have Windows Vista installed in parallel and it works fine, powered by battery or by cable, never haven’t any problem with that system. Is this problem caused by new suse? (previously on the same computer was suse 11.0 and 11.1 and those system never behaved that way as new system is). Has anybody similar problems? Maybe it’s characteristic for HP notebooks…

One idea that may be helpful to you is when booting the live-media check the integrity. I had a similar issue with a torrent of openSUSE 11.2, but everything checks out on the direct download.

I do not believe that this is a hardware problem i am running several hp’s and the new 11.2 as the last post. this could be a software issue. i had a shutdown issue on a zd7000 and it was the download, when i used a usb drive to load the os it worked fine.
