Dubling all lines in start log.

OS Leap 15.0 (all last updates installed) boot, if you switch to the boot log, you can see that all the lines of the log are doubled. How to fix? After all, this is clearly unnecessary doubling.

Yes, and weird.

Recommend…

  1. Are the actual syslogs duped as well? You can inspect the current bootlog with
journalctl -b

Or, even view your syslog in real time to see if it’s still happening after your system has completed booting

journalctl -f
  1. Update your system
zypper up
  1. Maybe even Upgrade" your system as necessary (first, make sure your repositories are all LEAP 15)
zypper dup

In starttopic I say about upgrade. I have OS all last updates.
But I see doubling lines :(.

Check you repos you may still have an old one

zypper lr -d

I too see the doubling of output as the machine boots and on shutdown after pressing the Esc. key from the graphical Plymouth screen.

The repeated lines do not seem to appear in the journal, nor in /var/log/boot.log or /var/log/boot.msg.

Also, if I edit the grub command line and add splash=verbose in place of splash=silent, I don’t believe the doubling happens. With this option, the scroll rate is faster and it’s hard for me to be certain nothing is doubled.

The reason why I listed specific commands is that people might think that they are fully updated and might even be by some other method than what I described… For example people might use YaST Updater or Apper or whatever might be done by the Desktop.

Running the zypper commands I described are the only really sure ways to make sure you’re updated.

My system has all the latest updates for this (Aug 18, 2018). I always use the zypper dup -l and I never used YaST Updater or Apper or whatever.
Believe me, I can fully understand when updates are installed and when not.
My system has the latest updates existing in this world and available from the repositories:
