Hi.
Ok first off I have opensuse 13.1 install on my 150g hard drive.
What I want to do is install windows 7 on my computer and dual boot.
How do I go about installing windows 7 without deleting my current partition with opensuse.
I know I’m going to have to resize my hard drive partitions and everything and im willing to.
Can someone explain it to me step by step please.
Thank you.

Have you perhaps tried googling with the search phrase:
“dual boot windows 7 opensuse 13.1”?
That search seems to come up with lots of relevant articles. You might
try looking those over rather than ask someone here to recreate those
steps from scratch for you.

Also, whatever procedure you find and attempt, rule #1 for any sort of
operation is this:
BACK UP YOUR DATA. (Yes, I wrote that in all caps. I did so because
it’s really, really important that you do this before trying to do this
installation.)
Seriously, this is important. If you overwrite your data by incorrectly
installing Windows after installing a Linux distribution, there is
generally /no/ getting it back. It will be gone, overwritten with new
data. You might get pieces of it back /if you’re lucky/ using something
like photorec, but it’s better to START with a backup.
The normal way to do an installation like this is to install Windows
first, then install Linux - this is because Windows doesn’t generally
play nicely with other operating systems already on the drive when it is
installed. That’s another reason why backing your data up before you
start is absolutely critical.

I tend to use gparted in a live distro like “SystemRescue” to sort out my partitions. As mentioned earlier please make sure you backup all your data first. Even the act of moving, and creating partitions in such a well respected app as Gparted can lead to data loss. By the way if you have a separate /home partition then even if you have issues with reinstating grub you will only need to reinstall opensuse making sure you don’t format that /home directory at installation time. If you do need to reinstall, pay particular attention at the partitioning stage for this reason. Also remember that windows cannot read linux filesystem so if you want to transfer files across to windows you will need to do that within linux. Also check what the minimum space requirements you will need to install windows 7 and any programs you may want as windows is more of a hardrive hog!
