Dual boot Windows XP & openSUSE 11.1

My desktop setup has the foll config:

Drive 1:
250 GB IDE : C:/ with Windows XP (entirely Windows with all NTFS partitions).

Drive 2:
500 GB SATA:

Would like to install openSUSE 11.1 Linux on this HDD.

The C:/ drive of Drive 1 (250 GB IDE) already has Windows XP installed & would like to add Linux openSUSE 11.1 as 2nd operating system. How can I go about doing this without damaging the existing Windows install ?

Particularly, I would like to locate grub on the 250 GB IDE drive (if this is possible, since all the existing partitions are NTFS).

Thanks,

Did you have a look at swerdna’ page?
GRUB Boot Multiboot openSUSE Windows (2000, XP, Vista) using the Grub bootloader.
It is very comprehensive and covers problems, which occur during multiboot installation
It might help you for your decision.

Most of all: Make sure, that Grub is written into the master boot record (MBR) of drive C. This MBR exists, no matter, how the disc is partitioned and formatted.
