I’m a newbie, so don’t assume I know anything.
I have fought my way through the installation several times.
I’m actually getting pretty fast at reformatting my hard drive and partitioning it and installing win2kpro and the opensuse 11.0.
Here’s where I get lost every time.
After I get the win2kpro installed and running. I install the opensuse 11.0 from the DVD, with the Gnome platform. Then the opensuse reboots and goes through the intial start up. Everything appears to be working smooth. I can access the internet and access the files on my hard drives.
Then I close the opensuse 11.0 . and then reboot my computer. When I get to the screen where you normally make your choice of operating systems on the dualboot window, opensuse 11.0 is missing.
So I went in and started a windows CMD prompt so I could get access to the windows “boot.ini” file. I edit the folder to see if I was in the correct place. I added a line that said “Linux” so I could tell if I was in the correct spot.
I exited and rebooted. This time when I got to the Dualboot option window my “Linux” appeared. Of course it doesn’t work because I haven’t actually told it where to boot from.
I haven’t found a way to boot in opensuse 11.0 without using the installation DVD.
And when I use the DVD it doesn’t give me an option to start my already installed software. “Confused”
-
How do I access my opensuse 11.0 without reinstalling?
-
How do I get the address of the /boot/grub file to place in my “boot.ini” file in windows.
Any guidance and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
