I guess codecs are sort of an issue with TW, still, since I never had that particular problem with LEAP, which seemed to work OOB. Flatpak seems like a pretty good thing. I guess there have been previous attempts but Flatpak looks like it will stick around?
Yes, intel-media-driver was installed on both computers.
With the system with the newer Intel graphics, look at the likes of installing, clinfo intel-opencl libze_intel_gpu1 if your using the likes of Blender then also libze_intel_gpu_raytracing.
At some point even switching to the Xe driver may offer improvements.

I’m also guessing I’d have less trouble with Flatpak versions of video-based software? I don’t think speed is a big issue, is that correct? I don’t understand that the repo VLC doesn’t work as well as the Flatpak version.
Yea, when folks post out here they have issue(s) with VLC, I always recommend they install the Flatpak version … test, and compare … most end up using the Flatpak version (I do too).
