Are you talking about repairing the boot loader (and not the OS). We really do need more details.

When you repair windows what do you do?
When you repair openSUSE what do you do?
Do you know of any changes that occurred to this system around the time the problem started?
please add any other details you think may be useful.

Once in Linux show use the menu.lst file
become root in a console
su -
then
cat /boot/grub/menu.lst
Also output of
fdisk -l (that is a lower case L not a one)
to repair windows I used the startup repair wizard
once this was done when i restarted my machine it had 2 options
to repair linux i tried to to update linux via the 2nd option
tonight i tried to fix windows then while in windows delete the linux partitions
then reinstall linux via the 2nd option
this didnt work windows is dead again

It’ s not easy to hit a moving target! As the system is now, can you give the output requested by gogalthorp?
If that’s your idea of repairing operating systems, I would advice you to always install Windows first.
Burn the iso to a cd/dvd as an image
Boot from that to install. Never run the OpenSuse installer from Windows it will kill Windows!!! Follow the instruction on the download page.
