Out of curiousity, for my own edification, what setting did you end up using for /etc/modprobe.d/sound (or did you put it back to a default setting ? ). ie what is the output of:cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4 enable_msi=1
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-hda-intel
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias snd-card-1 snd-hda-intel
and when I issue this command it is playing sound on both laptop speakers and speakers…
su -c ‘rcalsasound restart’
