Hi I have laptops, and I want use linux instead of Microsoft Windows, because it’s free and updateable. But when installing opensuse linux I have problems with VGA Card driver and UMTS/3G Modem driver, my VGA is VIA K800N/K800M Unichrome Grapich and my UMTS/3G Modem is Huawei E226. I try to search to VIA Website (viaarena.com) and Huawei website, but there is no Linux driver for that hardware. Please anyone who knows where i can finds that driver or opensuse Developer will build that driver.
With regards to your Huawei modem device. I’m using a E220 model without problems (supported out of the box). NetworkManager takes care of the rest, (although because the device appears as a modem, it can be configured via yast and controlled manually if preferred).
Anyway, plug it in, and from a terminal window (console), type ‘lsusb’. For reference I get
dean@linux:~> lsusb
Bus 005 Device 005: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E220 HSDPA Modem / E270 HSDPA/HSUPA Modem
Post back with the output.
