Driver for Intel HD installed, but still games complain 3D is not supported

I’m trying to run several Blizzard games, but they all complain with my graphics driver.

Here is some info:

However, I get Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft or (for Warcraft 3) - Unable to initialize graphics. Please ensure your operating system and display drivers are up to date.

From what I read - the problem is that Mesa is not loading the appropriate graphics driver. But I don’t know how to fix this.

Do you have any idea?
Thanks

Windows game?

WoW requires Direct3D, which is a proprietary MSWindows technology.

But, for the intrepid, those who have nVidia can try installing using nVidia’s Vulkan
There are numerous support articles around the Internet for Vulkan from the nVidia Developer Netowrk to an ArchWiki article, Wikipedia, etc etc.

Unfortunately, I don’t know that there is a solution for an Intel GPU so…
You can try running in WINE or a n authentic MSWindows in a VM.

TSU

Yes, I"m trying with Wine.

 wine --version
wine-3.7 (Staging)

I thought Vulkan is not only for nVidia, cause I installed it too

You’re right, Vulkan supports numerous GPUs.

Recommend going through the following ArchLinux article to verify the capabilities of your specific GPU, run some verification tests and possibly some troubleshooting procedures

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vulkan

I also see that more recent versions of WINE are available, even by default for openSUSE… Depending on how and why you have an older version you may want to upgrade

https://software.opensuse.org/package/wine

TSU

I updated Wine, but still had the same result.

Interestingly though - I downloaded Warcraft 3 from a torrent and ran it directly - and then it ran smoothly. So I guess the problem is in the Blizzard launcher(s) …

what version of wine?
What version of WoW?

I think WoW ditched OpenGL ( which was very broken in Legion )

Wine + PBA worked well up to wine 3.16 ( maybe I should see if I can get it working again )

you will need dxvk for newer wine

or drop back to Wrath, OpenGL works well in that ( “city of mages”-wow )

Lutris is your best bet

which version?
