I had PC with Leap 15.6, it was working fine. I upgraded using the migration tool. When booting into Leap 16, I get a black screen with just a mouse cursor. I cannot even do Ctrl-Alt-F6 to get a virtual console. I have to hit reset button and reboot. If I select the old 6.4 kernel, then it gets to KDE Plasma desktop and all is fine. Looking at various forums, it is suggested to add nomodeset to grub.cfg. I tried that for the default 6.12 kernel boot option, but that achieved nothing. I also removed ‘quiet’ from boot options, hoping to see what is last thing before the mouse cursor comes up, but screen goes black for 2 seconds before cursor appears.
PC has Kaby Lake CPU and AMD graphics card.
What else should I try?
Please run inxi -GSaz --vs --za in Konsole booted to 6.4 kernel and paste complete I/O here within PRE tags (</> icon) above and below the paste.
Maybe you had proprietary AMD graphics drivers installed and there is no updated driver compatible with Leap 16 yet?
