Someone posted a link to the official openSUSE torrents so I “accident” clicked one of the torrents. As I’m foaming at the mouth watching my download, I started to wonder to myself is this morally good or morally bad. What do you people think?
It’s free software. As long as you are getting the real version, go for it. Many of us have been running it for a week or so via updates, so feel free to join us.
The only issue I can see is that you might be putting load on a server that’s not ready for the flood, but servers are generally already provisioned for the flood anyway.
Other than that, I don’t see any issues. It’s FLOSS and it’s your machine. If it breaks you can keep all the pieces.
Foaming? I think foaming is morally neutral.
Sounds good to me…ultimately you are saving the official mirrors some bandwidth.
You’re doing nothing wrong, just double check the MD5 sum before you write it, just to be safe…

It’s a torrent. The more the merrier.
