Downloader for download openSUSE11 DVD .iso

Hi,

I’m waiting the release of openSUSE 11, I will want to download the DVD .iso.

What downloader program for linux do you recomend me to manage this kind of large files?

I won’t want a crash in the middle of the download.

Thanks.

I always just use Firefox, but you could try KGet if on KDE, and something if you’re on GNOME. I actually don’t know what GNOME’s download manager is. Ironically, I use GNOME, not KDE.

GWGET - Download Manager for GNOME2

If you knowingly have an unreliable connection you may have better luck
with a torrent. I finished download the x86_64 DVD this morning and it
matches the md5sums of what I have here otherwise so it seems those are
valid. You’ll probably get poorer download times that way but it only
took me a day before there were even that many seeds.

If your connection is fine I’d just go with Firefox or whatever your
favorite browser is that can handle >4GB files.

Good luck.

Hello !
I suggest you tu use the torrent: ktorrent, or deluge, or whatever software you use check regularly the integrity of the files you download !
Plus, it save some bandwidth from servers

Bye

I installed ktorrent and pasted the url (of the .torrent file), but is downloading at 2 k kBps! ktorrent says that left 111 days to finish, what could be happening?

thx.

probably more leechers than seeders at the moment

Probable, yes. Azureus shows me a huge circle of people downloading and
I’m pushing 300 KB/s most of the time. I would encourage any
downloading this way to leave the client able to upload for a day or
two. I typically try to get a share ratio of 10 before removing it and
especially where it is barely released… the more helpers the better.

Good luck.

for now I would prefer not to download by torrent, but when I finish downloading by ftp I will public my .iso in the torrent for a couple of days.

rgds.

I just ended up using wget -c on the console…simple and reliable.

kGet for standard download. If the connection does drop it will pick back up where it left off.
