Double Firefox profile after formatting

Hi, as the title said, i’m having strange issue with firefox, ok, this is how it started :
i’m using opensuse 11.1 before, it was a strange instalation i picked kde 3.5 but got 4.1 instead and the whole thing still run, most of the things were associated with kde3 though, it was a really strange mix up, but i decided to keep using it since i was in need of a working desktop.

So after about a month i had time to format again, i used opensuse 11.1 dvd, already checked the iso and dvd, then picked gnome and kde 3.5, then i formatted it.

I have been using suse for 3 months, so i know that programs in linux kept their settings in /home/.folders/ so some settings persists even after formatting, i had it before. But in this new instalation, at first, settings from firefox seems to be missing, it’s ok i think, so i did it again.

Now the problem : Suddenly, the old setting became active again, and it’s been switching for few times already these few days everytime i started firefox, i know it might sounds fun, but it worries me though, can anyone advise me how to completely remove those settings ? does deleting them manually works ? in windows there are things left in the registry though…

and one last thing, has anyone around here has tried postgreplus ? i removed the postgre from yast, but this postgreplus doesn’t seem to appear at all in yast, this kind of things happens quite often, things i kicked out from yast still persists, any advice would be appreciated, thx in advance.,

I think YaST partitioner allows you to not formatting home user directory
whether detects it’s on its own partition. IIRC, it’s a checkbox.

So maybe all your settings were kept.

Just try to rename your current firefox folder to start over.

It is located under ~/.mozilla/firefox, so change the name of that folder
whatever you want (i.e., firefox_old) and then start Firefox. A
new “firefox” folder will be recreated with no settings at all.

Agreed . . . just to be clear on one detail, it is not possible for anything to persist after formatting - formatting completely destroys the existing file system (and therefore anything in it) and creates a new one.

Thx folks, i’ll try that ASAP
