Double clicking top of window to enlarge problem

I just jumped into the linux world
First thing I do is double click the top of the window to enlarge it and when I do that the window enlarges correctly, but it also lunches an app like the double click lags behind to click on an app after the window enlages, im using the 64bit version.

If u dnt knw wat I mean please try it out and tell me how I can fix this, just double click a sized window to make it fullscreen and tell me wat happens.

I also would like to knw if maybe its the fact that im using the 64bit version and that its glitchy

Thanks in advance!

Apparently its only when I try to enlarge the “More Applications” window, try it out and tell me if you have the same issue

I don’t get what you mean.

but it also lunches an app like the double click lags behind to click on an app after the window enlages, im using the 64bit version.

What app is launched? And what exactly is lagging? Don’t get me wrong, but this sounds… too exotic for me to understand. And what is a “More Applications-window”? All I could answer to this is something like “my windows enlarge properly when I doubleclick the titlebar”, but I don’t think that’ll help you much.

To help us helping you, please describe the problem more clearly. Also it would be necessary to know what environment (KDE / GNOME / LXDE / …?) you use.

welcome to the forum…as an international forum we have many users
and helpers here whose primary language is other than English, and
their text messages are in other languages and they might be totally
confused by your word selection…

what i’m saying is: plz us whl wrds hr thx…

please use whole words here…thanks

now, to your problem: thanks for giving openSUSE a try, you will soon
see that motions and actions here will not always result in the same
response you might have become used to in your previous operating
system…and, here you have the freedom to set the responses to many
most actions than you are probably used to…

for example, when i double click a title bar the window doesn’t expand
to full screen, instead it “rolls up” the window like a window shade
so i can easily work in an open window below the one rolled up…

so, i recommend you to initially not try to ‘fix’ stuff (that is not
broken, just is not reacting as you expect it to) and give it all a
try as it is born and you might (as i did) learn to like some of the
stuff…yes, it WILL take some getting used to…like:

in your old system if you wanted to launch something you left
double-clicked it, right? but, tell me what did you expect to happen
when you single left clicked an icon? nothing right? oh, it “got
focus” but did nothing…

so, why ‘waste’ a single left click to do nothing? here a single left
click on the Firefox icon will cause it to launch…my best advice is
to learn to use one click and don’t ‘fix’ it to be the old fashioned,
last century way…

lots to explore and learn in Linux…Have a lot of fun! (don’t expect
it to be your old system, don’t try to force it to be)

Ok so basically, using gnome, 64bit of opensuse 11.3

When I click on computer (bottom right) and click on “more applications” that window that pops out, if I double-click on the title bar, it will expand but will ALSO select an application where my mouse is situated one the “more application” window is expanded automatically.

What I’m trying to say is to try it out, because its really hard to explain with words
I just wanna knw if it happens to other users, and if its a glitch, or if its normal
Thank you

i don’t use Gnome or 64 bit 11.3 so it is impossible to test here…

that said, try NOT double clicking…because if it expands with the
first click, you may be accidentally doing something else with your
first click…

did you read my note? do not expect everything to have to have TWO clicks

another way to say: when you double click, do not expect nothing to
happen on the first click…because if something does happen then
whatever your mouse is over when you do that second click, welllll it
is gonna get a click also…

see?

Wrong, GNOME by default uses the same double-click behaviour as Windows.

what you describe is not normal…

to me it sounds like after the window begins expanding an errant mouse
click is launching an application…

the easiest way for that to occur (in my experience) is to issue a
double click when only one is required…while it has been brought to
my attention that Gnome by default follows Redmond methods, i wonder
if, will you tell us if you have yet entered the personal settings
area and changed any of the desktop windows behavior actions or mouse
settings…and maybe changed the default behavior from double to
single click actions?

are you using a USB mouse? a mouse pad on a laptop? what?

have you with your current hardware ever experienced what most call a
‘bounce’ which is where the mouse switch ‘bounces’ and delivers more
commands than intended…

is it possible to try again with a different mouse?

is there any other time that this situation shows itself…or is it
just this one window?
