dosen't showing the correct pointer

I changed my pointer to black DMZ (if I correct its installed by default).
The problem is, on my desktop the pointer look like default one but the other symbols like when it think or resize seem to be changed (to black DMZ).

How to fix that???

I think he means Gnome; I’m seeing the same problem. I choose the black KDE pointer but I get the default, except on top of the firefox window.

I have the same problem.

sorry I didn’t understand. I use Gnome.

In Gnome Control Center, Select Appearance -> Theme, click on Customize, open the tab “Pointer”.

If the DE is GNOME, then change the pointer theme and then log out and then log in. That should solve the problem.

That doesn’t work either. When I hoover over firefox I get the correct pointer, however if I hoover over the desktop or any other window I only get the default. So something is definetly wrong. I tried changing to different pointers with the same effect.

A bug has been filed for this.

Christ, how do you edit a post?

Anyway, the link is wrong, here’s the correct link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/459647

The edit is only good for something like 4 or 5 min after the original post.

when you are trying to fix Gnome in Ubuntu, why not declare that up
front…

I’m not. I’m trying to fix Gnome in OpenSuse.

ah! sorry, i guess i was confused since you cited a bug via
Ubuntu…but, i see now it was a preexisting (almost a year old) report!

Yeah, I didn’t realize that it was filed as an Ubuntu bug, but obviously it’s not limited to that distro. I tried one of the workarounds and it didn’t work; it’s a very annoying bug. At least it’s only cosmetic.

i have heard (have not tried to confirm) that bugs which need to go
‘upsteam’ which are filed in the Ubuntu path don’t get all the way to
where they need to be as quickly as they do if filed in our Bugzilla…

so, if you have some spare time it might be good to see if the bug
exists in http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports

if it is, ok…if not maybe it will (this time) get sent
upstream…and, maybe (in another year) fixed…

LOL! Ok, sounds like a good idea. I’ll do just that when I get a moment. Thanks.

Something you might want to try:

su -
cd /usr/share/icons
rm -rf default
ln -s YOUR_WANTED_CURSOR default

look, it’s done! No retarded UI’s, no retarded bugs… it just works.
Of course there are other ways…
