Don't know what to do, leap 16 won't load or install

linux noob here
I am so frustrated right now. I had a 2013 laptop that I installed leap 15.6 on. I upgraded to leap 16.0 a long time ago. last week it stopped booting and I originally thought the laptop had died, but it hadn’t, windows still loaded. Then I thought it must be the external hard drive which leap was installed on. For this reason I bought a brand new laptop and external SSD to install leap on. I’ve never had a problem with Rufus before, but when ever I’m writing the leap iso, there is a pop up error. The write still completes. When I try to boot from the USB to install leap, it hangs. I can post images of the errors if needed. This made me think the issue is with my usb stick, so i bought a new one. Writing the iso this time with Rufus doesn’t error but it gives a new pop up, the write complete, but when I boot the USB to install leap I get the same hang and errors. So now I know the fault can’t be the USB stick, I’ve used 2. So could it be the new laptop has hardware issues? So I decided to install leap on my main 2023 laptop. I boot from USB to install leap and it hangs at the exact same place my new laptop got stuck at. I decide to install via the network image as the main iso is giving me problems. When writing the iso to USB, I get the same pop up and Rufus still completes. When I boot the usb to install leap, it still hangs at the same place. I don’t know what to do. It’s not a problem with my usb sticks, it’s not a problem with my laptops, So what is it? Is there a problem with leap 16? I’m starting to think my old hard drive on my 2013 laptop isn’t spoilt after all, and the problem is with leap. I’ve been on this issue all week. I’ve been getting assistant from AI, but I’ve come to realise it doesn’t have a clue. It’s sent me on one wild goose chase after the other. It would be easy to try a different distro but I really like opensuse. Can anyone help me? I haven’t been able to use opensuse for a week now and it’s making me miserable. I bought a whole new laptop because of this for nothing. Please any help will be greatly appreciated. I verified the checksums of the isos and they all checked out.

What is it?

There are some hints, which mode to choose:

Here’s the image errors

So there are no issues with leap? Did my old hard drive really die? It still has the light to show activity

I think the problem was me using AI. Those rufus settings you provided made me able to boot the USB online installer with no errors. I’ll now redownload the main iso installer and report back on the results

Update:
leap 16 installed, but now when I boot/load up leap it’s stuck in the terminal, asking for localhost login. It’s not accepting my username and password I chose when installing. Any ideas?

In the installer, you did not do the Software Selection part, so now no desktop is installed. Better reinstall and make sure you do all the config parts.

sorry for double post

Thanks for your response. That solved the issue, but now there’s another problem. I have no sound. When I play the vlc player or try watching a video, I hear nothing. Clicking the speaker icon in the task bar says: “no audio input or output device found”. I logged back in to Windows, and it still has sound. Any ideas?

That is a different topic, I would create a new one with proper title etc. Give details like hardware, DE used etc.

ok, and thanks again for solving my issue
