Dolphin Toolbar Changes

Dolphin Toolbar menu has lost “Control” and KDE has changed things once again!!!

Please could you tell me how to get Control back, also the default for Location Navigation is not to enable this. How may I reverse this default please.

Sorry to have to ask but the number of choices which KDE gives me grows exponentially with the passage of time whereas, sadly, my memory doesn’t.

Right click toolbar -> Configure Toolbars - then you can add back “Configure Dolphin”

also the default for Location Navigation is not to enable this. How may I reverse this default please.

Configure Dolphin -> Startup -> Editable location bar

Yeh… I can relate to that

Hi Paul and thanks for the reply. Try as I might I cannot get “Control” with the spanner icon back. Can you give me a clue please!!!

I now have the editable location bar, many thanks.

Regards.

Are you using Oxygen icons, as opposed to Breeze?

Following screenshots are from my (heavily customised) Dolphin on TW (using Breeze Icons, the icon depicts two “sliders” as opposed to a “spanner”)

First right click on the Toolbar to bring up the context menu.

Select “Configure Toolbars”, in the configuration window that opens scroll down to “Configure Dolphin”.

Then use the right arrow between the two panes to “move” the chosen item to the right pane.

You can move the newly added item up/down by drag and drop. (Alternatively you could drag and drop from the left pane). Once satisfied with it’s location “Apply” “OK”

To be honest, I have no idea what you mean by “Control” and “spanner icon” … Can you show some older screenshot?

Hi to both respondents,

Here is my screenshot:-

No idea if this will work but I have the captured image so will get it to you somehow.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to use Shutter to define the image whilst keeping the drop down window open so I cannot show what the “Control” button shows, only the top row with the Toolbars.

I was surprised to find it still on my other machine as I expect it to vanish with an upgrade soon.

PS That didn’t work. How can I get the screenshot to this site please? Will try suse paste.

See if this works!

I hope that is OK, Sorry I didn’t add an arrow but I am sure it is clear what I am on about!

OK … Yes you’re using the Oxygen Icon Set…

The instructions I posted in #4 still apply, you should be able to see the “spanner” icon in the lefthand pane

Whether it’s labelled “Control” or “Configure Dolphin” is, I beleive, governed by the language pack installed.

:embarrassed: … OK… Got this one completely wrong!

My sincere apologies @Budgie2

I was under the mistaken belief that “Control” was the “Configure Dolphin” action.

“Control” (a somewhat misleading name IMHO) is in fact the “Menu” action.

It is present, or absent, from the toolbar dependant upon whether the Menu Bar is displayed or not. (Toggled on/off by ctrl-M).

Turn off the Menu Bar and the “Control” Icon appears on the toolbar - Turn on the Menu Bar and the “Control” icon is removed from the toolbar.

Many thanks and all is well. No idea why I had not come across this before but so many different terms for so many similar functions frequently gives me pause. This was the first time the Ctrl-M had been toggled the wrong way, must have coincided with an update and that is what threw me.
Sorry to be so ignorant and thanks for the help.

You’re welcome, and hey, don’t put yourself down. I doubt I help initially with my wrong information.
