Dolphin starting with blank panes

Running a fully updated TW KDE when I start Dolphin I now get blank panes which seems to have happened after a recent update but not sure exactly what or when. Starting from a console shows

dolphin
kf5.kio.core: Invalid URL: QUrl("")
kf5.kio.core: Invalid URL: QUrl("")
kf5.kio.core: Invalid URL: QUrl("")
kf5.kio.core: Invalid URL: QUrl("")
kf5.kio.core: "Could not enter folder tags:/."

I tried deleting dolphinrc and recreating but still happening.

Any ideas please?

Stuart

Working OK here with TW 20190828

Have you tried with a different user?

Dolphin also has other configuration files:

first try temporarily renaming the “/.local/share/user-places*” files and “/.local/share/kxmlgui5/dolphin/”

Tried those files as well but still no dice. I can use Dolphin either by selecting Home from the Places menu or typing in the path. Just annoying it is not coming up initially even after I set the start path.

Just found https://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,149955.msg1280712.html#msg1280712 which describes my issue. This points to https://cgit.kde.org/dolphin.git/commit/?id=91709cb6fe61dbec300a8d51d3064a57d9f63f37

Indeed… I don’t have dolphin start in split view mode.

Just tried changing that setting and see the problem.

Starting in non split view (which is my norm) is OK, as is switching to split view after dolphin has started.

Thanks for posting the links.
