In the “details” form of the Dolphin file manager, the size of a directory is given in the number of items it contains. In this case the indication is that the folder holds 11 items, but opening that folder shows no content, and the status line at the bottom confirms the item count of zero.
This folder is on an external HD (ext3) that was populated with rsync as a backup to an internal HD. There should be some items in the folder, which (doesn’t it always work this way?) I now want to recover. Insights and suggestions welcomed.

maybe they are hidden files? try in a terminal and run the command ls -a
Or select View->Show Hidden Files in Dolphin
