Dolphin missing icons in Leap 42.1 Gnome

Hi,
I have leap 42.1 installed via DVD upgrade from a previous 13.2 Gnome
install and have also created a fresh user account but the Dolphin
missing icons issue still appears. Folders appear fine but the
text/config files have no icons. Is it a known issue and are there any
workarounds for this? I tried Google but could not find anything recent
or openSUSE Leap related.

Starting Dolphin via console I get following error output:

:~> dolphin

Well someone will know
But 13.2 ran kde4 and 42.1 is Plasma 5

I think most people would recommend a clean install for kde users moving from the kde4 to the new Plasma 5, I would.
I know. It shouldn’t have to be that way, but it’s just going to be better/less trouble.

Pretty sure I have read a similar post somewhere
Just hang around and someone will offer some suggestions

I will wait and see if someone has a Leap 42.1 Gnome 3 install (clean or
upgrade) where Dolphin works correctly (normally or via some mods)
before I try clean install.

I will too, but this is a gnome 3 upgrade.

I also have a Centos 7.2 Gnome 3 install on another partition and just
installed Dolphin (2.2 and KDE 4.14.8) on there and it works (no
problems with icon display).

Will do and thanks for your reply and advice.

Cheers

You are probably missing some KDE theme that was not brought over because of the change to Plasma5

Maybe you are right but what theme may that be? I have installed Oxygen
theme/s (all the possible versions I could deduce would apply) but still
no resolution. I then tried dolphin4 (which downgraded some packages in
the process) and that displayed the icons but still spits out various
issues when started via console.

Lastly, I have now installed the plasma5 pattern and have a working
KDE5/Plasma5 Desktop where Dolphin displays icons but which are still
missing when in Gnome session.

As it is, I have 13.2 kde4 as my main working OS and will stick with
that until support for it stops.

Cheers

Some feedback on this issue.
Did some googling, reading and experimenting and deduced that there is
no proper integration at present in Leap 42.1 Gnome 3.16.2 DE with Qt5
applications. Thus one needs to install and use the Qt5 Configuration
Tool and play around with the various options in order to get some
integration. Dolphin needs the Breeze icon theme for best integration at
present.

>>libqt5-qtct - Qt5 Configuration Tool

This applications allows users to configure Qt5 settings (theme, font,
icons, etc.) under DE/WM without Qt integration.<<

PS: Thunar file manager (from Xfce) works and integrates well in Gnome 3
DE and thus I uninstalled Dolphin and kept Thunar FM instead as an extra
option to default Nautilus FM.
