Whenever I try to trash a file in Konqueror or Dolphin all I get is a plasma
notifier that it is being ‘Moved’, then the notifier closes and the file is
still there. It’s not a refresh issue, delete just does nothing. So I do it
from a shell. Any ideas on what is b0rked? KDE version 4.2.4r2.
What about right click delete avoiding the trash? Do you have that enabled? Sorry but I’m on 4.3 - but never had this in 4.2

No. Don’t have right click delete.
Drag and drop to trash does not work either.

Okay, I enabled delete in Dolphin, and that works.
Enabling that is one of the first things I do on a new system.

Yah, I only recently started giving Dolphin some work. It used to crash
so much on me, I just discarded it.

Trouble with the plasma notifiers is that just because they have closed
doesn’t mean the action has been completed. Check the “i” in the sys-tray
for progress.
In KDE4 version of Konqueror, don’t try moving/deleting files if you are
using tabs. You may delete/move a different file.
